My name is Cathy...and I'm a sugar addict

Yes...I am a sugar addict. I've denied it for many years but I NEED sugar!!! I made a bet with my friend, Chin, that I could deny my sweet tooth until the end of the year. BIG MISTAKE!!! I'm only on day 2 and I'm already suffering major withdrawl. Headaches, crankiness...none of you want to see the sugar monster. It's not cool. I even went as far as offering to buy my husband a new laptop for a bite of his danish. To make a long story short, we went to Best Buy and he got his laptop and I..............................................

didn't succumb to my craving . Effing Chin!!! That's right. Your shoes are mine. I already am looking forward to 2007. So many shoes to wear, so little cleaner to care for them. You think I don't care for my shoes...just imagine what I could do to pairs that don't even belong to me. Nervous? You should be.

So long 2005...

Another year has come and gone. Here are some moments worth mentioning:

1. I am really pleased with how far my friend, Chris has come along. One of the quieter members of TeamID, he has kept his New Year's Resolution from last year to be more social. Now, people will actually believe me when I say that he does most of the talking when we're together. Good job, Chris!!

2. In terms of work, this has probably been the most demanding in all of my Scotiabank career. So long to the days of coming home before 5pm. However, I've learned so much in the past year, that aside from the late hours, I really can't complain. That's one more step up the corporate ladder.

3. My brother-in-law finally gave his fiancee a ring. Heather (his fiancee) has been hardcore begging/waiting for this moment. Although the actual proposal was a disappointment, mission was accomplished. One Tiffany design rock later proves that good things come to those who wait. Good show, Marv.

4. My sister also got a ring. Not as big as the dazzler Marvin gave Heather but nonetheless worth mentioning on this list. Allegedly this is a promise ring from Michael. This poor fool does not know how deep a grave he has dug for himself. The promise ring isn't really a promise for marriage proposal...it's a promise for a bigger ring!!! Congratulations to my sister to finally finding someone who will put up with her.

5. My husband's 50% pay-cut. Definetly not a bright spot in my husband's career or the Torreno household. I believe, though, that The Entity passed this test with flying colours. We could not do it without the help from friends and family...Thank-you.

6. Relationships within Team ID have either blossomed, been rekindled or fizzled within the last year. As hard as we try to deny it, nothing hurts more than losing a good friend. That is why it is important to keep the ones that you do have close. You remind yourself (and others) how much they are really loved...I hope you understood what I just meant there, cuz I surely don't (filter off)

7. A year of travel is over: Carnivale in QC, Paris, Barbados, St. Lucia and Montreal. Don't worry folks, kids are still NOT on the way. The travelling bug is still not out of my system yet.

8. Mr. Shaun Sequeira has finally succeeded in organizing a "guys only" Team ID trip. Destination was Veradero, Cuba. I'm glad all my boys arrived safely and that I didn't have to carry any coffins on my own.

Cheers to a good 2005 and an even more promising 2006!

Happy Birthday, Bay...

That time of year has passed again for my husband. He is now a 27-year old man. Yes, I've said it - a man.

This year for his birthday, I took him out shopping. He said he wanted to change it up a little. I agreed and "no-questions asked" I let him buy whatever clothes he wanted. I must say, I was very impressed with what he selected. He's come to the realization that the thug in him has come and gone.

Now what scares me is this: After I took Rob Fernandes out shopping he was MIA soon after that. Will the same happen for Mr. Torreno?...laugh

Stay tuned...

It's night #2 in Barbados. We didn't do much last night cuz I just wanted to settle in but today was AWESOME!!

My day starts off as follows:

The sun shines bright at 5:30 am. Unfortunately, it wasn't the sun that woke me up but the cackling of a rooster!!! WTF!!! No worries back to bed. Wake up at 6:30am. Everything here is sooooo laid back. I pretty much started my breakfast at 8:00 and wasn't done until I left for the beach which was around 11:00am.

Marsha took me to the west coast. Amazing. She took me to the golf club that Tiger Woods opened (and got married in last year). It's called Sandy Lanes. This is near her place and is really shwanky. Apparently this is where all the celebrities go and sure did look like it. Shaun type girls surrounded smothered the beach. However, Shaun's game couldn't compete with the guys down here. It's game on ALL DAY. Grocery store, gas station you name it there's some sort of game taking place. Apparently the men down here think that women find it alluring when they blurt things out at women. For example, they say to Marsha "Hey there, darkie". In my case, I had guys hollering "Hey, redskin". I thought they were making fun of me by Marsha clarified for me. I thought that was sooooooo funny.

Anyways, back to amazing. Just like the vacation ads promised: white sands and blue waters. It was my first time at a beach like this. Temperature was just right. I made a friend. Actually he made friends with me. But no need to worry Bay, he was young and all I did was talk about you. Cool guy. Marsha is a big-time boss for the global treasury group down here so while I was swimming and sun-bathing she was working in a chair under a beach umbrella. Man, I thought I had it rough but this girl works non-stop. I will never complain about work again....yeah right. She was working last night and working right now as I update my blog. It's amazing she even has time for me.

After the beach, we went back to her place for a quick lunch and headed for Harrison's cave. Holy Batman!! Really amazing but the tour was super quick. More like "get-the-f*ck-out" quick. I really enjoyed it but that's when I really missed Bay cuz I knew he'd really like it.

Then we took a tour of the northern coast and the inland. Spectacular. We then hit the Soup Bowl. It's another beach; however, unlike the bathing I did on the western coast this was more geared toward the surfers. I still preferred the west but this was still really nice.

We headed home so that I could smother myself with after-sun aloe gel. Yes, it's only day 2 and I've managed to sun burn 40% of my body. No worries, this isn't going to stop me I'm headed to the beach again on Tuesday. I told Marsha I wanted to stay in tomorrow to allow my body to recover. This will also give me a chance to finally finsh A Scanner Darkly.

Till next time bat boys and girls.....

And the winner is...

My name is Catherine Torreno and I have Poker Fever!

Saturday night, my husband and I hosted our second poker tournament. I finished way higher than expected...I actually made it to the final table! Anyways, this earned me an invitation to Jay's Monday night game.

I didn't play in the first game because I was helping Joy babysit her niece and nephew; however, after all that was done I got to sit with the boys in the second game. It was a long-ass game but it was worth it. I beat out 12 others and won that game. $90 in my pocket ($10 had to go to Alexis cuz he paid my buy-in).

Thank goodness, I'm going to be away for a week. Hopefully this fever will subside.

"I'm so excited...and I just can't hide it..."

Marsha just sent me an itinerary of activities she has planned for me during my stay. Unfortunately, it's quarter-end down there too and she has people away on vacation so, she won't be able to take full days off to spend time with me. But...she made plans to be at different offices in her division to make sure I'm in a different area each day. Sooooo crazy.

One of the things she planned was a Catamaran weekend trip were going to make. For those of you who aren't familiar with this it's basically a tour/trip on the water. Awesome!! Okay...I don't want to give away too much. I'll blog about it while I'm there.

Is it time to go, yet???!!! F*ck, I'm excited.

Thank-you so much to Bay for making this all happen.

God bless Wal-Mart...

In just under 2 weeks, I'll be hitting the beaches of sunny St. Thomas, Barbados. As many of you know (well the ladies actually) I've been on the hunt for the perfect swimwear.

I've been looking everywhere! I tried The Bay, sport shops and countless others and couldn't find the right ones. Thanks to my sister I have found them. I got 5 bathing suits with matching bottoms/skirts and flip flops for under $100!! Unheard of!!!

I've already told Marsha (my friend, who I will be staying with in Barbados) that all she has to do is drop me off at the beach and pick me up on her way home. She's already made arrangements for me to have a cell phone while I'm there so that she can call me when she's ready to pick me up. Can't wait....
